Wednesdays | This workshop is taught in English
The theme of the study groups with both Gestalta & Ztella in January will be lower body harnesses—these classes will be an ideal refresher for anyone planning to attend the Strappado Weekend with Soptik in February (but are open to all), and we recommend attending in the same pairing that you plan to attend the weekend workshop with if possible.
This study group delves into the complexities and creative possibilities of rope bondage through Ztella's detailed, structured approach to shibari. The classes emphasise the mechanics and logic behind ties while creating space for personal expression and connection.
The group will focus on specific themes over several weeks—whether a particular tie, sequence, or aesthetic—allowing for deep, thorough exploration. Informed by our models' experiences and insights, the teaching methodology emphasizes both technical precision and adaptability, with particular attention paid to safety considerations and communication between tying partners.
You are not required to attend the study group with a partner. If you attend alone you may be able to partner and switch with another participant, but we cannot always guarantee that there will be someone to partner with. You are also welcome to attend just to observe, take notes, ask questions, or self tie.

This study group is not suitable for beginners. However, it welcomes a range of students at intermediate-level and beyond.
At a minimum, participants must have some experience with using and understanding suspension lines, although extensive suspension experience is not necessary as the teacher will guide and support you at your current skill level, ensuring that each participant receives personalised attention and guidance.
If you are unsure about whether your level is sufficient please contact us for clarification. If you are interested in joining the study group, but are not sure about your skills we recommend taking our Step 3: Towards Suspension 6 week course prior to starting this class.
