The Body & Ropes: Spine!

  • Daruma Neukölln, Berlin (map)

with Asimira & Saya

Backbends are a challenging position in ropes that are both loved and hated by many.

In this workshop we will zoom in on the anatomy of the spine with a strong focus on backbends (both from a top and a bottom perspective). You will learn about the spine, how it functions and how you can more safely move someone or be moved into a backbend. We will cover a backbend position in ropes and give you time to explore.

This workshop will be quite technical on a body-level rather than a rope level. It is most suitable for people of intermediate level (it will be helpful to be able to tie a chest harness and an upline. However, exercises can be adapted to different levels and attending without participating in the hands-on exercises that involve rope is possible.

  • Regular
    25€ per person

    30€ per person

    Low income

Price is per person, and it is possible to attend alone and partner up with other participants, however we cannot always guarantee an even number of people so it might be necessary to work in groups of 3.

  • Helpful to be able to tie a chest harness that loads from the back, and an upline, but all exercises can be adapted to suit different levels.

  • Asimira is a rope switch, physiotherapist, and visual artist who uses her understanding of the human body on both sides of the rope.
