I’m Ena, a sensuality and conscious kink educator, bodyworker, author and rope switch.

Prior to entering the world of kink and BDSM in 2017 and Shibari a couple of years later, I hail from a background as a creative art director. I quickly learned during my communication design studies that the most effective and sophisticated typography is that which draws little attention to itself and thereby allows the content and its message to shine.

In the same way that typography is not about the actual letterforms, Shibari is not about the ropes but what they allow us to do and express. In order to create that space for mutual trust and surrender with our partner(s), where we can be fully present with and attuned to one another, where we can co-author stories, uncover each others secrets and otherwise share things we couldn’t in any other way, we first need to hone our hard (aka technical) skills.

This viewpoint greatly influences my approach to teaching (as well as learning) Shibari. I’ll get nerdy and obsessive about rope and technique, not because I love the rope itself, but because I’m trying to make the rope “disappear”.
